Voice & video calls

Sometimes typing isn’t enough — you need to actually talk. BridgeApp has voice and video calls built right into Messenger, so you can go from chatting to face-to-face in a single click, without scheduling anything or switching apps.

You can start a call from any conversation — a channel, a group chat, or a direct message. Click the call button, and the call appears in the chat so others know it’s happening and can join with a tap.

During a call you’ll see everyone who’s connected, along with each person’s audio and video status. You control your own microphone and camera with simple mute/unmute and video on/off buttons, before or during the call.

Calls aren’t limited to two people — a whole channel can hop on together. Behind the scenes, BridgeApp uses an efficient relay (an SFU) so that large group calls stay smooth without overwhelming anyone’s connection.

When you start a call, you can decide how open it is. This is the access type:

Access typeIn plain terms
OpenAnyone can join immediately.
TrustedWorkspace members join right away; guests wait to be let in.
Trusted with queueLike Trusted, but members can also choose to wait in the queue.
RestrictedOnly the creator, invited people, and already-admitted guests can join.
Restricted with queueLike Restricted, but others can request to be admitted.

When someone is waiting in the queue, the call’s host (or an admitted trusted participant) can admit or decline them right from the call screen — so you stay in control of who’s in the room.

When a call ends, BridgeApp can make a couple of things available so nothing important slips away:

  • Recording — an audio recording you can play back later. It’s stored separately from the chat and marked with a Recording badge.
  • Transcript — an automatically generated, written record of what was said and by whom, with timings. Handy for catching up if you missed the call or want to find a specific moment.

People who don’t have a workspace account can still join a specific call through a temporary guest session. A guest is scoped to that one call — they can take part and share files within it, but they don’t get access to your wider workspace or its history. It’s the easy way to bring an outside client or candidate into a single conversation, safely.
