Read state & unread
Read state is BridgeApp’s quiet bookkeeping of what you’ve already seen. It’s what puts a badge on a chat with new messages, fades it once you’ve caught up, and lets you flag something to return to later. The goal is simple: help you find what’s new without nagging you.
Unread badges
Section titled “Unread badges”When a chat has messages you haven’t seen, it shows an unread badge. As you read, the badge updates; once you reach the bottom, it clears. Threads you’re part of highlight their own unread replies, so you can tell at a glance where the new activity is.
This gives you a reliable “what needs my attention” view every time you open BridgeApp — no guessing whether you’ve missed something.
Mark as unread
Section titled “Mark as unread”Sometimes you read a message but can’t deal with it yet. Rather than trust yourself to remember, mark it unread. The chat lights back up as if you hadn’t seen it, turning your inbox into a lightweight to-do list: anything still glowing is something you’ve chosen to come back to.
Your read position is private
Section titled “Your read position is private”Here’s an important and deliberate design choice: BridgeApp tracks your reading position for you. It does not broadcast “read receipts” that tell other people exactly which of their messages you’ve opened.
